some people debate the name of their spawn, others debate the name of their companions. Our first is a black pug named cain:

our next comes the end of august, and we’ve simply asked for the breeders thoughts on the best companion. we decided on names: Joan if a girl, Able if a boy.

god help us.

So for about the last 6 hours I’ve been throwing every possible combination of layout, etc for a pdf to upload to mimeo so that i have a nice 5.5×8.5 book/booklet to keep in my camera bag with everything I personally need while in amsterdam. I’ve even included multiple blank pages in it for keeping notes, sketching, etc. So far though EVERY combination results in an 8.5×11 book with or without the ability to print double sided. It might actually be the most frustration experience i’ve had with printing EXCEPT for any and all use of Quark Express.

You would think that if every page is 5.75″ by 8.75″ (to account for bleed and trim), and the final pdf was also those dimensions that once uploaded to them, that it would default to EXACTLY the document size. Nope. Every single version when uploaded results in the same 8.5″ by 11″ page with my pages sitting directly in the middle. The other wonderful aspect is that it REVERSES the order (seems changing that setting did nothing by the way other than throw more confusion into the mix).

So I decided to give bookemon (in all its web 2.0 branding) a try. Took about an hour and a half to do the uploading (they could use a bulk uploader) and the ordering, but what an amazingly pleasant experience. They were also a quarter of the price.

Give bookeman a chance the next time you are debating putting your own custom book together.

about a week ago myself and fuad spent a couple hours in the studio running through the latest tracks we’ve been working on: Hebrews in Heat, That is (i’ve since replaced all the drum sounds), and Untitled 1. i uploaded them a while back, but i hadn’t posted them publicly other than to twitter. hope you enjoy listening in to the creative process.

So after several years of neglect, I’ve blown away all the previous code for the site and am starting again. Its going to take a bit to get any decent amount of content, but I have to start somewhere right? So here’s to starting over. I’m suspicious that I’m going to end up with a lot of spambots crawling the site so as a result I’m requiring registration in order to comment. Eventually the login will also allow you to download a wide variety of files ranging from presets for hardware/software to audio files to code snippits, and everything in between. I will still be posting on the Choking Sun site and will likely link from there to here and vice versa.
